Sabers Return to the Ice with Three Consecutive Wins

The San Diego Sabers returned to the ice after a two-week break with three wins. They played familiar opponents in game one and game two, the Long Beach Bombers and the Ontario Jr Reign, but they faced the Henderson Force for the first time this season. 

Friday, November 8th - San Diego Sabers 3, Long Beach Bombers 2

Returning to the ice after a two-week break, the San Diego Sabers faced off against the Long Beach Bombers at Lakewood Ice. The first period started with early scoring from the bombers, with a goal just 2 minutes into the game. The Sabers returned in the second period with three consecutive goals, which secured them the win. The first goal was by defenseman #4 Aidan Cosgrove, with assists from #94 Sam Bailey and #91 Briar Dickson. The following game-winning goal was made by #94 Sam Bailey, with assists from #6 Knut Hornkvist and #2 Owen Robertson. The bombers scored one last time in the third period, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win against the Sabers. The final score was San Diego Sabers 3, Long Beach Bombers 2, returning to the ice with a win. 

Monday, November 11 - San Diego Sabers 5, Ontario Jr Reign 2

The Sabers’ next match-up was with familiar faces against the Ontario Jr Reign at the Ontario Ice Arena. #94 Sam Bailey opened the scoring with the only goal in the first period, assisted by #12 Caleb Murray and #6 Knut Hornkvist. The Sabers continued this trend of scoring into the second period, with #91 Briar Dickson assisted by #24 Sammy Albano and #27 Matthew Matsuda. The Jr Reign broke this up with a goal at 16:10, but the Sabers recovered quickly, scoring the second period's final goal with #24 Sammy Albano and an assist from #29 Mario Bortoli. In the third period, the Reign scored an early goal, giving them some hope, but Sabers forwards #24 Sammy Albano and #44 Kai Shepherd brought two empty net goals to finish the game with a solid 5-2 victory. 

Saturday, November 16 - San Diego Sabers 5, Henderson Force 2

For the first time this season, the San Diego Sabers played the Henderson Force on home ice at Carlsbad Icetown. With 38 shots on goal to the Force's 35, the Sabers claimed this victory 5-2. The first period had #11 Liam Krupcyznski opening the scoring with assists from #6 Knut Hornkvist and #94 Sam Bailey. The bulk of the action happened in the second period. The Force took away the first two goals, keeping the Sabers on their toes, but they responded quickly with three goals of their own. #4 Aidan Cosgrove started the second-period momentum with assists from #11 Liam Krupcyznski and #94 Sam Bailey. #94 Sam Bailey scored the next goal assisted by #6 Knut Hornkvist and #4 Aidan Cosgrove. #6 Knut Hornkvist finished the second period, scoring with a goal and assists from #11 Liam Krupcyznski and #24 Sammy Albano, scoring 4-2 at the end of the second. #11 Liam Krupcyznski scored the final goal of the night, assisted by #94 Sam Bailey and #6 Knut Hornkvist, bringing the final score to 5-2 Sabers.
