Want to Intern with the Sabers?
Thank you for your interest in our internship program! Participants will receive hands-on experience in the sports and entertainment industry throughout the semester. In addition, participants in the internship program will also have opportunities to attend guest speaking events, informational sessions and receive mentorship from employees within the organization.
The Sabers welcome all applicants who are currently enrolled in accredited colleges or graduate schools. Participants must receive credit through their academic institution. This opportunity is unpaid and does not guarantee employment with the Sabers upon completion.
Weekly Panel Discussions
In addition to the daily opportunities participants will have to learn and experience what it means to work for a sports team and entertainment venue, during the semester there will be various programs and educational opportunities. Participants will hear from guest speakers who work in various departments throughout the organization, and how they got to where they are today.
Sabers Foundation Events
A vital part of the San Diego Sabers' impact on the community, and beyond, is the Sabers Foundation. There will be events hosted by the Foundation throughout the semester for which Participants will be expected to volunteer. This is a great way for participants to see first-hand the impact the Foundation has on the organization and its fans.
Mentor Program
Each Participant will be assigned a mentor who will serve as another resource for information, learning, and conversation. There will be an initial 'Mentor Meet and Greet' in the first few weeks of the program where mentors will get to know mentees. In addition to check-ins, mentors will also monitor progress and be available for questions, general advice, guidance, and activities. Mentors and participants will be encouraged to arrange a lunch meeting and coffee meeting.
"Face Off" Meet & Greets
Each semester, participants will be hosted in various capacities to get the opportunity to interact with each other. This brings camaraderie between the interns/staff and provides an opportunity to network for the future. Events range in opportunities like rink tours, watch parties, etc. based on the semester.
"Hoisting the Cup" Graduation Presentation
As the semester wraps, participants are asked to create a presentation describing their experiences. This presentation will be shared with their fellow participants, as well as their managers and mentors. This presentation should illustrate what you have learned and how this experience has helped equip you moving forward.
