Sabers defeat Shredders 6-1 at home

by Adrian Preciado

The San Diego Sabers welcomed the Long Beach Shredders for a game on Sunday, December 11. This was the second time these two teams faced off against each other this season as their first matchup resulted in a 10-1 Sabers win. The Sabers had a great first period as Ulric Martel scored two goals followed by another two from Michal Novak and Nevio D’Alessandro to lead 4-0. The Shredders found the goal towards the end of the second period. Still, the Sabers prevented any momentum as Mathieu Rioux scored another goal nearly two minutes after to send the Sabers to the third period with a 5-1 lead. The third period did not see much action until the final minute where Mario Paganini netted the game's final goal to finish it and complete another impressive win, 6-1.

San Diego already has their eyes on the next game as they travel to Ontario to faceoff against their rival Ontario Jr. Reign. The two split the series last time but both teams look to get the upper hand. It all goes down on Friday, December 16th in Ontario.
