Sabers acuire defenseman Drew Mazza from Long Beach in trade agreement
San Diego, CA – The San Diego Sabers have officially announced a successful trade agreement, with forward Jaxon Taylor heading to Long Beach in exchange for defenseman Drew Mazza.
Hailing from Mission Viejo, Drew Mazza made his debut in the United States Premier Hockey League in 2022, representing the Long Beach Shredders. In his first year in the Pacific Division, Drew quickly established himself as a formidable defenseman, amassing an impressive record of 5 goals and 26 assists.
The current season seems to be following the same promising trajectory for Drew, as he has already contributed significantly with 1 goal and 10 assists in just 13 games for the Shredders.
Sabers General Manager Domenick DiCicco expressed the team's excitement about this acquisition, stating, "The Sabers have been searching for that missing piece to strengthen our defensive lineup, and we believe Drew has the potential to fill that role. We eagerly anticipate Drew's arrival in San Diego and look forward to his performance in the upcoming game against Ontario."
The San Diego Sabers extend a warm welcome to Drew Mazza and the Mazza family as they join the San Diego hockey community. The team also extends their gratitude to Jaxon Taylor and the Taylor family for their contributions to the Sabers and wishes them the very best of luck in their new journey with Long Beach.
