Rapchuk Wins Gold at IIHF World Championship

Congratulations to Sabers’ Sacha Rapchuk and team Australia on winning the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division III. 

The 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division III was held at the Zeytinburnu Ice Rink in Istanbul, Turkey, from January 26th to February 2nd. The gold medal game saw team Australia win over team Israel with a final score of 4-1. 

With three victories and a 28-6 goal differential after defeating Kyrgyzstan, 12-4, New Zealand, 6:2, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, 10-0, Australia was Group A’s top team. Australia defeated South Africa 28-0 in the first quarterfinal to record their best victory in its 24th appearance at the U20 World Championships. Sacha had a total of 9 assists and 4 goals while in Istanbul.

Catch Sacha and the Sabers at Icetown Carlsbad as they take on the divisional rivals the Ontario Jr Reign! The puck drops at 1:00 PM on Feb. 19th.
