Homegrown player Gonzalo Almanza joins Sabers
Gonzalo Almanza, a native of Ramona, California, has committed to play for the San Diego Sabers in the upcoming USPHL season.
The 5'11" forward scored 2 goals and had 7 assists during his previous season playing for the Atlanta Capitals in the North American 3 Hockey League. Gonzalo went to Central Cathedral High and played for them before joining the Atlanta Capitals.
Domenick DiCicco, General Manager, expressed his excitement that Gonzalo had made the decision to return home. "It's always special for a hometown athlete to play in front of his family, close friends, and teammates. I'm interested in following his progress on the ice during the upcoming season."
The Sabers would like to welcome Gonzalo and the Almanza family back to San Diego.
