Hampus Knutsson signs with Viggbyholms IK

by Tomas Kapusta

The San Diego Sabers 2001-born defenseman, Hampus Knutsson, signs with Viggbyholms IK of Hockeytvåan (Division 2) and becomes the fourth Saber from this past season to sign a professional contract in Sweden.

Knutsson proved himself to be a valuable addition to the Sabers' defense during the 2021 - 2022 season as he obtained six goals and fifteen assists in only thirty games played. Hampus will be joining former Sabers’ teammates Adam Wedberg and Ludvig Nilsson, who also signed pro with Viggbyholms IK earlier this month.

“Hampus is a great team guy and a solid defense-first defenseman,” said Sabers General Manager Domenick DiCicco. “He has an offensive ability however that is overshadowed by his tremendous defensive skills. Hampus is an athlete who works hard day in and day out and I expect him to excel and continue to grow as a player with Viggbyholms IK.”

The San Diego Sabers would like to congratulate Hampus and his family on this accomplishment and wish him all the best on and off the ice next season with Viggbyholms IK.
