by James Karr

In a captivating turn of events, Tim Gradin, the '04 blueliner, has secured the title of Pacific Division Defenseman of the Week for his remarkable performance during the Las Vegas Showcase from Dec. 13-21, 2023.

Having recently joined the San Diego Sabers in December, Gradin swiftly made his presence felt on the ice. Previously playing in his home country, Gradin seamlessly transitioned to the USPHL and wasted no time leaving his mark.

Joshua Boyd, reporting for USPHLPremier.com, highlighted Gradin's exceptional journey from joining the Sabers in December, "He put up three goals and eight assists for 11 points in five games – the Dec. 16 Long Beach game followed by the four games in Las Vegas."

What sets Gradin apart goes beyond his scoring ability. During this stretch, he led the team in minutes played with an impressive 25 minutes and 29 seconds on average per game. Not hesitating to play the body, Gradin demonstrated his physicality with a team-leading six hits, making him a well-rounded asset on the ice.

With a remarkable +10 overall rating during the Las Vegas Showcase, Gradin proved to be a defensive force, contributing significantly to the team's success. As 2024 kicked off, he concluded the showcase with a notable 5-10-15 line in nine games, solidifying his impact as a key player for the Sabers. Gradin's presence adds depth to the Sabers' lineup, and his contributions have not gone unnoticed.

Congratulations to Gradin on this notable achievement, and may his stellar performances continue to elevate the Sabers' defensive game.

Launching into the second half of the USPHL season, the San Diego Sabers will hit the road from the 11th to the 13th to face the Fresno Monsters.
