RIVERSIDE, CARLSBAD, ONTARIO, PARAMOUNT CA, April. 28, 2022 – The San Diego Sabers are officially announcing that Domenick DiCicco has been named the new General Manager of the San Diego Sabers and will be tasked with building off the success of last season while continuing to grow the USPHL program.

DiCicco led the San Diego Sabers as Head Coach to an impressive 2021-2022 season with upsetting victories against the Fresno Monsters and Lake Tahoe Lakers leading to the Sabers’ epic battle with their divisional rivals, the Ontario Jr Reign, for the final spot in the Pacific Division Playoffs.

“I'm excited to take over the role as General Manager for the Sabers.  The past two seasons, the Sabers have been growing both on and off the ice and I look forward to continuing with that growth.,” said Domenick DiCicco. “At the Sabers, our goal is to develop players and help them move on to the next level.  I look forward to what the team can accomplish this season and continue on the trajectory that we have been on.  A place like San Diego is a great area for athletes when they are away from the ice, but also with our program, provides athletes the opportunity to enjoy the area and all that San Diego has to offer while continuing to enhance their performance on the ice as well as off the ice.  Tomas has been great to work with and we share the same vision for what we want the program to be so it has been great.”

DiCicco being named General Manager comes shortly after the announcement of the hiring of James Alami as COO and Kim Gough as CMO. These announcements prove to be exciting news for junior hockey in California as the Sabers continue to be a premier destination for player development with experienced and professional leadership in place.

Going into the Sabers' thirteenth season, DiCicco emphasized the importance of building relationships within the San Diego community and designed a comprehensive development model for athletes to pursue their academic and hockey career goals here on the West Coast.

DiCicco has over 25 years of hockey experience and played for Penn State where he graduated with a BS in finance. Shortly after, he took over as Head Coach for the Penn State Harrisburg hockey team where he quickly built the program into one of the top teams in the Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference, which was ranked in the top 25 in the country.

Before joining the San Diego Sabers, he spent the former season building the New York Bridgemen of the Eastern Hockey League, a new program for the New Jersey Titans.

The San Diego Sabers have also announced they will be co-hosting an NCDC Tryout Combine with the NCDC PAL Junior Islanders organization. The camp will be held on April 29th & 30th and May 1st of 2022 with both Domenick DiCicco and NCDC PAL Junior Islanders Head Coach Mike Marcou in attendance.
